Job Description
A new position has arisen to join our well respected, friendly and supportive Pharmacy team at Crawley Hospital. Working for this team allows for a work-life balance whilst still doing something rewarding and challenging. The post holder will be a key member of the team who will be involved in delivering a high quality ordering and invoicing of medicines service, with a particular focus on Homecare. Other general pharmacy duties such as the dispensing, receipt and distribution of medicines will also be undertaken to give the post-holder a variety of experience. The full time hours are 37.5 hours per week (generally ‘office’ hours) and there are currently no weekend or bank holiday working commitments. Previous pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential.
The main duties are to support the Pharmacy Dispensary in the ordering and invoicing of Homecare and other medicines and the receipt and distribution of stock medicines and includes:
- supporting the Pharmacy in day-to-day Homecare activities such as ordering and invoicing and assisting with the management of contracts
- liaising with suppliers of medicines with regards to availability of medicines, price queries etc.
- the receipt and distribution of stock medicines
- other general distribution activities, including ward-based top up of medicines
- dispensing medicines for patients
- working closely with all members of the pharmacy team
We are committed to developing our staff and have recently supported a pharmacy assistant to gain their Level 2 pharmacy qualification. Other than the pharmacy team at Crawley Hospital, you will be part of a bigger pharmacy team that covers a large area of Sussex and this brings with it the possibility for wider support and opportunities. This team values its workforce and is forward thinking, supportive and always looking to improve and grow.
Good communication and organisational skills as well as attention to detail are important, along with the ability to work both on your own initiative as well as part of a team. You must have five GCSEs (pass level C/4 or above or equivalent, including Maths and English) and knowledge or experience to NVQ2 or equivalent level.
