We are delighted to invite applicants to apply for this exciting opportunity. We have two vacancies for Assistant Psychologist posts (full time, 37.5 hours, fixed term 12 months) within Glasgow City HSCP South Locality. The Post Holders will be based within one of two established Older People Mental Health Teams (OPMHTs) (Elderpark OPMHT and Shawmill OPMHT). We are seeking highly motivated psychology graduates, with a genuine interest in working with older adults to apply for these posts.
The primary role of these posts is to support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the OPMHTs through the delivery (under supervision) of low intensity psychological interventions for patients presenting with a range of mental health difficulties. A further focus of this role is to provide psychological support for patients with a diagnosis of dementia through Stress and Distress work and interventions such as Cognitive Rehabilitation. Post Holders will also assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics and development of
audit and/or research projects, literature searches, teaching and project work. The successful Post Holders will have access to weekly supervision (from an HCPC Registered Psychologist). Within this role there are opportunities, for joint-working with MDT colleagues and continued professional development in line with their role and focus of the posts. The post holder would also be member of the NHS Greater Glasgow
and Clyde Older People’s Psychology Service.
The Post-holder is required to have at least an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Psychology. They must be eligible for the Graduate Basis for Chartership of the British Psychological Society (GBC). An ability to travel between posts is essential for this role. The post-holder should have had experience of relevant paid/voluntary work. Interest and motivation in working with Older Adults is welcomed.
