This is a fixed-term, full time position based at our facility in Crumlin.
Role Overview
As a Senior Development Scientist, you will be responsible for planning and completing laboratory work required for projects within the R&D team. The Senior Scientist is expected to plan, complete, troubleshoot and write up experiments accurately utilizing approved formats. The role will also involve preparations of work plans, analysis and presentation of all results using excel and power point for review and presentation to the customer. In addition, the role will require flexibility to work in other areas of the contract development services for example process and/or product verification and validation activities. The Senior Scientist will work with the Project Manager to plan experiments, support technical activities and report to the customer where applicable.
Role Requirements
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Ability to bring specialist technical knowledge for the IVD development lifecycle into the team. Develop and deliver training in areas around specialist knowledge.
- Ability to identify key improvements in technical methods utilized in R&D
- Ability to plan, design and execute technical project work and prepare technical reports for internal and external review.
- Independently complete technical work plans to achieve project goals for review with Project Manager / Development Leader.
- Work with project team to highlight technical issues and proactively deliver solutions
- Analysis, troubleshooting and presentation of work using excel and/or power point to present to Project Team / Customer
- Ability to give clear and appropriate communication with colleagues and customers to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Understand the requirements for project design history files (DHF) and actively work with the Project Manager to ensure DHF up to date and appropriate for audit.
- Understand QMS requirements and impacts for R&D.
- Prepare experimental work plans appropriate to achieve project goals and as agreed with the customer for discussion with Project Team.
- Generate and complete project specific protocols as required.
- Review of other scientists/senior scientists experimental write ups to achieve consistent quality and meet all QMS requirements if appropriate.
- Complete Timesheets accurately and in timely fashion.
- Awareness of targeted chargeable hours and communication of any issues/changes to Project Manager.
- Help supervise and train new starters where appropriate.
This role will be best suited to someone who can demonstrate practical laboratory skills with a solid understanding of immunoassays. Experience of ISO 13485/ 21 CRF Part 820 or other relevant standards would be an advantage.
We are seeking an individual with excellent problem-solving skills who can demonstrate time management efficiency and confident decision-making skills. A strong team ethic is important to those joining BBI and so communication and interpersonal skills are also essential.
