An opportunity to play your part – As the successful candidate you will oversee the integration of projects and services across all of Centrica’s business units You will own the day-to-day management of a number of projects or workstreams, and he delivery of the agreed progress reporting requirements. You will be responsible for the project(s)/workstreams project board(s) or programme boards, coordinate the delivery of the projects agreed standard of quality and within the specified time, including cost and risk constraints.
The day to day –
- Ensure the Technical workstreams are appropriately planned, ensuring the business and technical dependencies are understood and managed both within the programme and cross-programme, executed and progress monitored.
- Identify best delivery approach for the technology workstream, using expertise in both Agile and Project methodologies to inform recommendation. Ensures approach sign off by key DTS and BU stakeholders.
- Ensure all technical activities are budgeted and managed efficiently and cost challenges are achieved.
- Establish accurate forecast estimates in line with agreed tolerances.
- Ensure that budgets and forecasts include full delivery of non-functional requirements, tools or build for operability activities.
- Chair the Technical workstream board to gain assurance of the overall direction and integrity of the delivery.
- Ensure that “build for operability” is embedded in the delivery process and that governance and controls are in place to maintain the integrity of the Production Systems in an environment that has a high volume of complex change.
- Deliver of projects through hands-on planning and management.
- Account for execution of the Programme & Project plan, monitoring progress and taking the necessary corrective actions.
- Identify and manage programme/escalate project risks.
- Manage any areas of conflict or issues within the programme.
- Identify and manage the cross-project/programme dependencies.
- Account for production of the Programme level plan.
- Manage programme/project critical success factors.
- Define and implement overall project governance structure and provision of clear roles and responsibilities and objectives for the project team and key stakeholders.
- Report progress at agreed intervals to the programme board.
- Be responsible for effectively managing technical delivery team performance, producing measurable results for themselves, their team and wider organisation.
- Ensure team has the appropriate level of engagement with the business, developing effective working relationships at the required levels by considering the audience and communicating appropriately.
- Ensure team is focused on achieving results using all resources available from initiation through to delivery and feels comfortable to challenge and be challenged.
- Actively remove any boundaries to create an environment that promotes and encourages teamwork across the Technology and BU teams.
- Oversee the quality and appropriateness of the work performed to ensure it delivers measurable business benefits.
- Act as an advocate of IS both externally and internally, and promotes consistent corporate standards and fair attitude in all dealings at all levels.
About you -
- Proven Programme Management skills and experience gained within a large, complex organisation.
- Ability and experience of managing programmes with medium to high complexity .
- Oversight of one or more projects concurrently.
- Sound, hands-on background of IT services, IT governance processes, IT Strategy, IT Transformation, and program governance.
- Experience in providing strategic direction in the areas of IT governance, IT strategy, program management, vendor management and portfolio management.
- Experience delivering complex projects and delivering project outcomes for impacted areas, such as process improvement, service management, IT governance, program management.
- Good knowledge of program governance processes, sourcing governance, portfolio management processes and demand management processes.
- Managing dependencies across multiple projects and programmes.
- Experience of significant software and integration initiatives.
