Our Business Improvement Manager (Performance & Yield) has a big job. Our manufacturing sites are fast paced, highly demanding and ever-changing.
Reporting into the Head of Manufacturing – Planning & Business Improvement, you will work with sites to manage and deliver the Manufacturing Business Improvement plan, lead the skills development and ways of working of our colleagues to enable a culture of business improvement; leading to an ever improving performance on all measures (safety, quality, people, delivery and cost). Directly involved in the productivity improvement and sharing with sites and wider manufacturing business. At times work with the central productivity teams to implement solutions through site teams that make improvements end to end.
You will also be accountable for:
- Managing and driving performance improvements and deliver cost saving initiatives across the manufacturing sites, both internal and external
- Maintaining high standards and high quality products at all times
- Manage reduction of waste
- You will define and ensure delivery of productivity targets ensuring the operation runs within budget and in line with business plan
- A strong focus on improving yield returns and minimising giveaway and improving labour efficiencies to reduce costs across the business
- You will share productivity improvements that deliver positive impacts for customers in Manufacturing and its customers
- You will prepare reports to internal customer’s requirements – to show performance/yield based projects, their measurements and achievement of profit improvement against site target
- Deliver and advise on process improvement, supporting involvement and engagement of colleagues
- You will lead cross functional project teams and working groups as necessary to alignment of objectives and end to end benefit delivery
- Develop a way of working that enables our people to continuously look for ways to improve our business
- Lead the development plan for ensuring colleagues have the skills to be able to constantly be able to deliver improvement
- To support the operational teams (Shift Managers, Team Managers, Departmental Managers, Line Leaders) and ensure they are using continuous improvement tools and processes to improve output/reduce costs on sites
- It will be your responsibility to Update progress tracking reports and communicate progress to senior stakeholders on the delivery of initiatives
- You will assist in the development of the Morrisons Improvement Programme and be able to train relevant tools and techniques
- Manage initiatives to a robust process to clarify scope, define benefits, create implementation plan and deliver benefits to agreed time and costs
- Manage measurable and deliver successful improvement projects – to meet/exceed sites demands and therefore company wide targets of profit improvement/cost reduction

- Worked in or equivalent, operational management role in manufacturing process, ideally within food manufacturing
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- You will have a proven track record of extensive process of Operational Excellence and CI knowledge, Lean Six Sigma Green – is desirable
- Have the ability to train, coach and engage across levels and disciplines to transfer knowledge to improve performance
- You will have Financial P&L understanding and variance management
- Site performance in efficiency, yield and quality, current performance and cost drivers
- You will be able to demonstrate experience of change management in busy environment
- Understand own leadership styles, capabilities and their impact on others
- Passion for high performance through teamwork and customer focus
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills and in benchmarking methodology
- You will have a good understanding and experience in a Oracle/Systems
