We are a forward thinking, multi-disciplinary GP surgery looking for an enthusiastic technician to help support the Clinical Pharmacist team. You will be involved in supporting the delivery of repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, clinical audits and much more! Full training and support will be given. Job Responsibilities: To support the practice pharmacist in delivering repeat prescriptions in a timely and safe manner.
To support the Practice Pharmacist in answering medicine related queries from patients. To support the Practice Pharmacist in answering medicine related queries from other Healthcare Professionals and administration staff. To support the delivery of clinical audits. To support the achievement of the practices Prescribing Quality Scheme targets.
To support the achievement of the practices Quality Outcome Framework targets. To support in the delivery of routine monitoring of medication. To action safety alerts from Public Health England and other national bodies appropriately. To assist in the safe and effective discharge of patients from secondary care.
Job responsibilities will vary from time to time depending on the evolving practice workload. Health & safety The post-holder will follow our strict practice policy on health and safety. This will include (but will not be limited to): Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines.
Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, and good practice guidelines. Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Use and monitoring of the correct use of Standard operating Procedures for cleaning and infection control. Responsible for correct hand hygiene.
Active observation of current working practices across the team in relation to infection control, cleanliness and related activities, ensuring that procedures are followed and weaknesses / training needs are identified, escalating issues as appropriate. Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks across clinical and patient process Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills, and initiate and manage the training of others across the full range of infection control and patient processes. Actively identifying, reporting, and correction of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised. Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas generally clean, sterile, identifying issues and hazards / risks in relation to other work areas within the business, and assuming responsibility in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness across the business in consultation (where appropriate) with other sector managers.
Undertaking periodic infection control training. Personal/Professional development The post-holder will participate in any training programme implemented by the practice as part of this employment, such training to include: Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development. Taking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar work.
Quality The post-holder will strive to maintain quality within the practice, and will: Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk. Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision. Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance. Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs.
Effectively manage own time, workload and resources. Person Specification: We are looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic technician with a passion for patient care to help us develop this new and exciting role. The Post holder must be confident in dealing with patients and other healthcare professionals and be aware of their own limitations. Essential Experience and skills Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent Minimum of 2 years patient facing Community/Hospital Pharmacy experience.
Previous experience in working in a GP surgery (desirable, not essential- full training will be provided if not) Previous experience in using EMIS clinical system (desirable, not essential- full training will be provided if not) Evidence of CPD Good verbal and written communication Motivated and enthusiastic Demonstrates resilience and an ability to cope under pressure Good interpersonal skills, ability to make effective relationships with others. Excellent attention to detail Advanced numeracy skills Excellent keyboard and computer skills Able to use initiative Able to prioritise work load Aware of own limitations and able to refer when appropriate to a more senior practice member.
