About K9 Development Centre (K9DC)
K9DC is a dog care and training facility combining a range of services including day care, overnight stays, training, and behaviour modification. We are dedicated to offering exceptional care for dogs with a training and behavioural focus and pride ourselves on our excellent customer service for dog owners.
Our day care facilities provide a healthy, safe, and natural environment for dogs to interact, play and learn in; constantly supervised by our trained and loving team.
You will engage with dogs and their owners on a daily basis, and your passion for dogs will contribute to the positive and enriching environment we have at our centre. Ideal candidates will have experience handling, training and being around dogs, with a good understanding of dog behaviour and various breeds. Excellent communication and personal skills are a must as you will be liaising with clients and working in a small team environment.
This is a physical role which involves working outside in all weather conditions.
Key duties
- Close supervision of dogs and controlling interactions
- Walking dogs in small groups, carrying out training and breed-specific activities
- Cleaning and hygiene maintenance
- Following and implementing training plans and enrichment exercises for each individual dog
- Basic grooming as required
- Monitoring the health and behaviour of all dogs, reporting any signs of abnormalities, changes or concerns
- Meeting and greeting customers, providing feedback both in person and via company software
- Preparing and feeding dogs meals as required
- Preparing enrichment activities
- Transporting dogs to and from the centre, maintaining safe and secure practices
- Driving and maintaining company vehicles to the highest standard
- Taking high-quality photographs and videos of the dogs daily
Main areas of responsibility
- Using your initiative to determine what is beneficial for each dog, and what tasks need completing at the centre
- Managing the dogs’ exercise, training and interactions
- Monitor and ensure the welfare and safety of dogs at all times
- Maintain an expert understanding of client needs and offered services
- Ensure cleanliness, hygiene and health and safety are maintained to the highest standard
- Work well in a team and independently
- Provide the highest level of care and attention to all dogs
- Provide the highest level of customer service to owners
- Identify opportunities to drive brand awareness and increase sales
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working with dogs (e.g., day care, kennelling, training)
- A relevant qualification in animal/pet care and/or dog training
- A passion for dogs, their development and their welfare
- An excellent understanding of dog and animal welfare requirements
- Be comfortable working with groups of dogs of varying sizes and breeds
- Excellent time management skills and a high work ethic
- Confidence in working as part of a team and independently
- A results-orientated mindset with good attention to detail
- A personable, engaging, and energetic attitude to work
- Be highly organised, forward-thinking, and self-motivated
- Excellent communication skills
- The will to work outside in all weather conditions
Must have requirements:
- Full, clean UK driving licence
Schedule
- 40-hours per week
- 8-hour working day
- 1-hour lunch break
- 08:00 – 17:00
- Monday – Friday
- No weekends
