Job Title: Learning and Development Tutor – 1st Steps Programme

Salary: £22,050 - £24,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday or part-time hours will be considered

Reports to: Quality Manager

About the Role
Due to growth, we are seeking to appoint qualified and experienced Tutors to deliver a mixture of accredited and non- accredited learning opportunities to students on our 1st Steps to Study Programme.
This role will involve working alongside our growing team of tutors, support staff and our Quality Manager to design and deliver innovative and engaging sessions across our student cohort.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adult students and expect all members of our team to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS request and two satisfactory references are therefore a mandatory requirement of the recruitment process.
We expect you will be able to:
- Support students to transition back into the classroom by carrying out home visits with your allocated TA.
- Contribute to and deliver an induction and enrolment session to new students, either on a one-to-one basis or to a group, checking student eligibility and ensuring that students understand the requirements of their programme.
- Carry out effective initial assessment with students using a range of methods and tools, to identify individual targets and support needs and refer students to our SENCo for additional assessments.
- Develop and deliver a variety of dynamic and contextualised 1:1 and/or small group sessions, differentiated to meet the needs of students and utilising a diverse range of teaching and learning methods.
- Actively promote Fundamental British Values, Safeguarding and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion within your teaching sessions.
- Complete and maintain all associated paperwork including Individual Learning Plans, progress reviews and closely monitor student attendance and punctuality.
- Ensure that discipline is always maintained and that students are supervised appropriately.
- Support and encourage students to progress to the next stage of their personal development, ensuring students explore appropriate options prior to and after completion of their programme of learning.
- Manage any learning support staff present in your sessions.
- Keep all documentation in accordance with funding bodies, Ofsted and quality mark requirements.
- Perform other duties that reasonably correspond to the general character of the job role and are commensurate with its levels of authority.
Your qualities, qualifications, skills and experience
- PGCE/Cert Ed (or equivalent teaching qualification at L4 or above), and/or a L3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
- Minimum Level 2 (or equivalent) qualifications in both Maths and English
- Good organisational and time-management skills, with a methodical approach to managing cohorts of students and your diary
- Ability to coach, support and develop students to complete learning programmes
- Ability to engage and inspire sometimes disengaged students and deal effectively with challenging behaviour when required and appropriate
- Ability to plan learning programmes and develop appropriate materials
- Ability to deliver outstanding and innovative learning and to inspire others to do the same
- Excellent written, presentation and digital skills
- A good communicator with all people at all levels
