As our Category Operations Manager, your purpose will be to support the development of the category strategy with our leadership team, ensuring excellent execution of this strategy across Arco.
The Category Operations Manager will benefit from a hybrid working pattern, with a mix of home based and office working days from our state-of-the-art Head Office in Hull. The role will have one direct report and a dotted line report, with circa 13 indirect reports across two teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the product lifecycle process across category to ensure all teams are accountable for maintaining product lifecycles, inventory quality, and exiting skus and stock in a timely way to budget
- Ensuring major tender pipelines are maintained and delivered on time, attending kick off meetings, distributing and coordinating category specific portions of the tenders and adding value to the tender process by liaising with the Sales team and ensuring category involvement at the relevant time
- Leading the planning, coordination, delivery and reporting of all major category projects contributing to the strategy
- Leading and coordinating the Data team to deliver admin excellence
- Working with category leadership and the data centre of excellence to develop and deliver the overall data strategy and overall product data compliance
- Supporting Non-Standards (extended Range Buying team) to deliver to Customer Engagement Centre (CEC) performance targets
- Ensuring excellent delivery by managing category communication as appropriate with cross functional teams, for example Sales, Marketing, Digital, QHSE and Range Proposition
- Collaborating with the Range Proposition team to ensure the range review calendar is developed and adhered to

About you
The ideal Category Operations Manager will be/have:
- Demonstrable experience of influencing at all levels including senior stakeholders, with the potential to present projects/ initiatives at Board level, and with peers
- Strong time management and self-organisational skills - project management experience would be desirable
- Demonstrable people management experience working across functions
- Experience of and the confidence to pick up new systems and ways of working quickly
- Comfortable and confident working in a strong data led environment with the ability to analyse multiple sources of information in order to drive strategy and business improvement
- Agile and innovative in approach to problem solving whilst remaining pragmatic
- Good knowledge and experience of change management and implementation of new ways of working
