This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving university and enhancing its Estates & Facilities Management Team. As part of the EFM Team (Estates & Facilities Management) you will be supporting a community of over 20,000 students and 2,600 staff based on campuses in Brighton. You will be primarily responsible for supervising one of four security shift teams, leading your team to establishing a secure and safe environment for staff, students, visitors and securing the University’s assets.

The University of Brighton Security Team provides a professional service covering 24/7, 365 days a year. As Shift Leader you be responsible for organising the team to cover all essential security duties, to act as the main point of contact during non-core hours, make operational decisions, or escalate to the Head of Security when appropriate. You will also need to monitor standards of work and professionalism in order to maintain a secure and welcoming environment for all.

We are looking for an individual with previous experience of working within a multi-site organisation that hosts a large number of staff and visitors. You must have strong interpersonal skills, be able to supervise and mentor a team, and have the ability to make operational decisions. Communication is a key part of the role as you will be expected to regularly interact with staff and students. As well as this being a good career development opportunity, the university offers excellent rewards including a local government pension scheme (LGPS), generous holiday entitlement and personal development as well as sports facilities and activities.

A driver's licence is required for this position and a car will be provided.
