Orion Partner Plus are delighted to have been retained to attract an Innovation Scientist capable of working at the highest scientific level, whilst delivering commercially-viable results.

Your Responsibilities

As an Innovation Scientist in our clients consultancy team, you would be responsible for:

  • Leading the development and design of new nonwoven products, processes and services.
  • Identifying unmet needs, conceiving, developing and delivering cutting edge technologies.
  • Understand scientific phenomena for the development of technical approaches - comprehensive experimental planning/DOE and advanced analytical skills.
  • Independent scientific report writing to a very high level of English language competency and technical excellence.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving with excellent decision-making skills to rapidly identify successful experimental approaches.
  • Understanding the aims, client context and application/industry/market context.
  • Data interpretation in context of overall aim of the project and technical progress.
  • Inspiring and motivating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Project management - management of the project team and client interactions to deliver results on time.
  • Independently managing client communications including meetings, teleconference and presentations.
  • Authoring technical papers, conference proceedings and presentations at the highest level and to represent the company at major industry exhibitions and conferences.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness in the context of new product development and technical consultancy.
  • Awareness of intellectual property management, including patent protection and copyright.

Our Requirements

Powerful Storytelling. You should have the ability to present complex concepts in a clear, concise and compelling way.


Engaging Presentation Skills. You should be experienced and comfortable presenting to large groups and delivering inspiring and engaging presentations.


Diverse Experience. Nonwovens are important in many industries and applications - you should demonstrate a range of industrial experience and be comfortable working with many end use applications.


Inspiring Leadership. Proven ability to inspire internal teams and clients to push the boundaries of what they thought was possible.


Passion. You should identify and be inspired by disruptive innovation and transformational ideas and be able to pass this on to others around you.


Considered Opinion. You should be able to form thoughtful and considered perspectives, supported by both objective fact and strategic conviction.

The role would suit a nonwoven specialist with a PhD or Degree/Masters in Textile or Material Science/Engineering with a minimum of seven years' experience in manufacturing, new product development and commercially focused R&D projects. Applicants should thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple project portfolios.

This is a full-time position in clients state of art new dacility based in Leeds, UK. We welcome international candidates that would qualify for a skilled worker visa in the UK.
