Key responsibilities:
- To work independently of their supervisor as there are many times where a supervisor will not be on site where the agent will be required to make judgments and decisions independent of management advice
- Special Handling agents are also expected to liaise directly with business partners and customers on a regular basis in an appropriate manner
- Liaise with Customs (Import/ Exports) Support ‘Core’ DHL warehouse and ramp activities during times of low third party activity
- Secure and weigh off all containers / cargo ensuring that the relevant security measures (paperwork/seals) are in place and that the information to be passed onto relevant departments
- Liaise with DHLs Network Control Group to support the handling of any late or day stopping aircraft, MT, training or positioning flights
- To safely operate on various types of aircraft and warehouse equipment (all training provided)
- To assist as part of a team in the methodical off and on-load of aircraft
- To work in accordance with the Global Aviation Procedures and Standards manual
- To carry out aircraft arrival and departure procedures
- Checking of serviceability of equipment
- To react positively to last minute changes
- To work towards Certified International Specialist accreditation
You’ll bring to this role:
- Must pass full medical including eyesight assessment (any offer of employment is conditional on passing this)
- Must meet criteria for issue of an Airside Pass
- Must hold a full driving license (category B)
- To be able to work under own initiative
- Knowledge of ramp & equipment an advantage
- Knowledge of basic import/exports and customs process advantageous
- Highly self-motivated
- Flexibility
