We are looking for a Research Associate/Scientist to join us in our In Vitro Pharmacology team, based in our Research & Early Development site in Slough, UK.
About the role
The role requires practical understanding of tissue culture and running cell-based assays, along with hands-on experience, or a willingness to learn about laboratory automation and liquid handling robotics.
The position is a lab-based role, demanding an enthusiastic and proactive mindset, along with good organization skills and an aptitude for problem solving.
The successful candidate will be given opportunities for training, continual learning and development and will be encouraged to contribute to implementing new technologies and processes.
What you’ll do

Contribute to running high-throughput cell-based screening assays, using platforms such as flow cytometry, high content imaging and reporter-cell assays.

Perform tissue culture to support screening activities.

To operate, maintain and promote the use of liquid handling and screening assay equipment.

Capture assay data using templates and systems tools.

Analyze, interpret and summarize results for presentation at internal meetings.

Produce detailed experimental write-ups and assist in producing and collating procedures, guidelines and reports.

Contribute to the demands of the department, helping to enhance our capabilities, improved workflows and process efficiency.

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
Required:

A minimum of a BSc, in a biology or pharmacology related discipline.

Experienced in tissue culture of primary human cells and cell lines.

Willingness to develop laboratory automation skills, to learn about new platforms and techniques.

Comfortable using data processing software, including curve fitting and statistical packages.

Highly organized with a meticulous attention to detail.

Strong communication and team working skills.
-
Adaptability, enthusiasm for new technologies and a willingness to apply them.
Desirable:
-
Previous industrial experience.

Hands-on use of automated laboratory and robotic systems.

Experienced in assay development and screening for drug discovery.
-
Practical experience of conducting flow cytometry and imaging assays.
