The role
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a flexible approach to work as they will be required to work a 12hr continuous shift system and take part in emergency response roles as directed by the company. These include; fire crew, incident control and first aider. The successful candidate will need to be committed to achieving high work standards.
As a new Chemical Manufacturing Operator you will be working as well as studying towards a Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship, which will combine the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a CMO at Briar Chemicals. This will require work based training and home study to achieve competence as an operator.
What you’ll be doing
- Chemical plant manufacturing operations, including monitoring and control of operations in both manual and computerised systems.
- Liaison and teamwork with other team members to achieve the schedule of work.
- Product quality testing at intermediate and finished stages.
- Reporting problems to relevant parties and contributing diagnosis and/or solutions to assist the timely and efficient continuation of processing.
What you will bring
The production schedule is extremely demanding offering both physical and mental challenges. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Relevant experience in a similar process industry
- A thorough understanding of Health and Safety practices
- A methodical and organised approach to work
- City & Guilds and NVQ or equivalent qualifications in Processing Industries Operations.
- Prospective candidates should have achieved a minimum of equivalent Grade 9-4 qualifications (GCSE Grade C and above) in English and Maths.
