The Clinical Unit Cambridge (CUC) Clinical Research Physician Associate (PA) is a new role within the CUC. As a PA you will work alongside the multidisciplinary research team at the CUC to deliver high quality clinical care during the conduct of clinical trials of investigational medicinal product/s and experimental medicine studies. You will work closely with experienced Principal Investigators, clinical research physicians, specialist nurses, as well as technicians and operations managers.
As the CUC PA you will have specific responsibility for the management and coordination of clinical study conduct and research activities, under the direct supervision of the CUC Principal Investigators and/or (senior) clinical research physicians. It is expected that all work undertaken will be within the framework of the scope of professional practice.

In this role you will
- Be responsible for protocol-related activities, including (but not limited to) supporting participant recruitment, obtaining informed consent, medical screening, performing ongoing monitoring and post-study clinical examinations, review and interpretation of vital sign, ECG, spirometry, Holter and laboratory test results.

Undertake study specific and diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, e.g. venepuncture, cannulation, suction blisters, punch biopsies, ECGs and assist with their processing.

Assist with dosing of study medication including investigational medicinal products (IMPs) and non-IMPs, through all routes of administration, e.g. oral, intravenous, subcutaneous.

Assist with the investigation and management of adverse events and medical emergencies. Assist with the collection, follow-up and reporting of adverse events, and communicates all safety issues to the Principal Investigator or sub-Principal Investigator for a study. Whilst ensuring the quality control of this data.

Maintain accurate research records and notes (source documentation), with data entry into paper or electronic databases as required.

Assist with authoring and review of the Informed Consent Form (ICF), relevant Research Ethics Committees (REC) submission documentation, response to questions from RECs and regulatory authorities as required.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

BA/BS Degree prior to undertaking PA program.

PG Dip or MSc in Physician Assistant Studies from a recognised UK training programme.

Current and valid certification or re-recertification by the Physician Associate National Examination

Current registration with the UK Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register (PAMVR), held by the Faculty of Physician Associates (Royal College of Physicians).

Experience in the use of electronic data capture systems and software packages, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and electronic patient record systems.

Commitment to train toward and/or the Intermediate/Advanced Life Support Provider (as a minimum) qualification of the UK Resuscitation Council (UK).
