Overview:
We are currently seeking applications for 3 GCS Chauffeurs within the Directorate for Corporate Transformation based in Edinburgh. This is a permanent and pensionable appointment and new entrants will normally start on the minimum of the pay range. Candidates with a disability who meet the essential criteria below will be invited to the assessments.
These posts will play a key role in supporting senior personnel conducting vital Government business. It's an excellent opportunity for someone who has a keen interest in driving. Early Pattern (2 posts) & Late Pattern (1 post)– operating from Motor Services, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh. The successful candidates will be required to work the either of the following work patterns, dependant on position: Early work pattern; Monday to Thursday 0600 - 1430, Friday 0600 - 1400. & Late work pattern; Monday to Thursday 1430 - 2300. Friday 1430 - 2230.
These are high profile posts and as a representative of the Scottish Government you will ensure your personal appearance is maintained at all times. A flexible approach to duties is required as you may be required to carry out overtime when the schedule dictates.
Responsibilities:
- Duties will involve driving senior personnel on Government business; this will require an excellent knowledge of the Scottish road network.

You will be required to provide a professional secure chauffeuring service to all our customers, this includes providing support to your customers by taking messages and responding in the appropriate manner, offering travel advice, sharing knowledge with your customers and colleagues, and assisting with luggage. Forward planning of journeys is essential to ensure official vehicle arrives on time for collections and customers are transported in a safe and comfortable manner.

You will be responsible for your allocated vehicle, maintaining it in a clean and roadworthy condition. This will include undertaking daily vehicle inspections and ensuring that any faults are reported to the fleet managers immediately. You will be responsible for accurately completing vehicle log sheets and job sheets.
- You will also assist in transporting of vehicles to and from suppliers for service and repairs.

Qualifications Required
A clean full driving licence is preferred. Applicants must have passed either the Institute of Advanced Motorists, ROSPA advanced driving award or are willing to work towards completion of either.
Other qualifications equivalent to these may also be acceptable, if you are in any doubt please contact to discuss.

This role sits within a specialist team and requires commitment towards continuous professional development. This may include a commitment to attaining a suitable accreditation and/or targeted training programme once in post.
Minimum Time in Post
It is expected that the successful candidate(s) would remain in post for three years, unless successful in achieving promotion to a higher band/grade.
