Overview:
Are you ready to help transform public services for the better?

The digital strategy for Scotland, A changing nation: how Scotland will thrive in a digital world, was published in March 2021 and it sets out our plans for ensuring that Scotland fulfils its potential in a constantly evolving digital world.

The Digital Transformation Division sits within Scottish Government’s Digital Directorate. Our aim is to help government organisations adopt digital business models that will deliver well designed, accessible and inclusive public services.

Through this we facilitate transformation of existing public services, making best use of digital technology for our citizens by championing the core principles of re-use and collaboration – both in technology and skills, and to be an employer of choice in Scotland.

We operate a flexible location policy, with a named base. Staff will elect to have a base office which is normally close to home. However there may be a need for travel to other Scottish Government offices/other locations depending on assigned work.

Digital Transformation Division’s aim is to enable the Central Government sector to formulate and deliver programmes of work to transform public services for Scotland’s citizens by making best use of technology and championing the core principles of re-use and collaboration – both in technology and skills – making SG an employer of choice within Scotland.
Responsibilities:
How will you spend your time?

As a Business Analyst within Digital Transformation Division you will have good communication skills and lead on small to medium sized projects. You will also support Senior Business Analysts in more complex projects, particularly in delivering business analysis outputs for use by others. You may work across multiple client locations across the central government sector.

The typical duties for this post will include;
  • Engaging with stakeholders to build strong working relationships, working closely with Service Managers/Product Owners/SME’s to help define an approach to meet the customer needs
  • Delivering business analysis products (documentation) in accordance with project requirements, such as the development of process maps and user stories
  • Supporting the preparation of options appraisals, impact assessments and benefits realisation
  • Applying a range of techniques to establish and analyse the current state, as is, people, processes and technology in the organisations and the relevant requirements likely to affect business change
  • Supporting the identification of options to deliver enhanced outcomes for citizens and through better use of technology
  • Analysis of the business impact of requirements and meet any definitions of ready
  • Providing effective consultancy and advice to customers and stakeholders within project or work stream settings
  • To be an active member of the DDaT community and contribute to the wider Product and Delivery family

Remote Working

We operate a flexible location policy, with a contractual named base of Atlantic Quay (Glasgow) or Victoria Quay (Edinburgh).

Currently the team is working on a remote basis with ad hoc office days for collaboration, workshops and other activities, though there will be times when you are required to come into the office. If preferred you can of course spend more time working at the base office (or an alternative Scottish Government office subject to availability). Commuting costs to the named base office are not reimbursed

While Staff are assigned to the base office, there may be a need for travel to other Scottish Government offices/other locations depending on assigned work.

  • Salary between £33,520 and £38,329
  • £5000 Digital (DDaT) Pay Supplement after a 3-month qualifying period ***

*** Digital (DDaT) Pay Supplement:

This post attracts a £5000 DDAT pay supplement after a 3 months DDaT competency qualifying period. Pay supplements are temporary payments and are subject to regular review.
