Scotica Film is an award-winning production house, creating environmental, adventure and ethical films, in Scotland and all over the world.
We use film to tell stories about wild spaces, and form powerful bonds between organisations, the public and our natural landscape. Our vision is to become a leading voice in inspiring people to experience and protect wild spaces throughout the UK and beyond.
Scotica is looking for a passionate individual interested in the environment, the outdoors and filmmaking to come in-house and help produce groundbreaking documentary and commercial films. This role would fit someone who is looking to develop their own skills in a dynamic and exciting context, and to join a company with strong values and purpose.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with general pre-production tasks
- Collaborating with the director and with clients on creative and logistics
- Attending shoots in sometimes remote and challenging locations
- Operating a variety of equipment - eg. Cameras, mics, lights and gimbals
- Ingesting and cataloguing footage
- Editing and basic colour grading / sound mixing
- Creating social media content and managing channels
- Any other tasks as required
Essential qualities:
- A strong portfolio of stills and/or moving image
- Competency editing with a professional NLE
- Good organisational skills and ability to work well under pressure
- Willing to travel around the UK and internationally
- Passion for environmental causes
- A love of the outdoors and adventure sport
- Willing and able to pick up new skills quickly
- Able to work longer days and weekends when required
- Full UK driver’s license
Desirable qualities:
- A strong portfolio of self-shot and edited films
- Competency editing and grading with DaVinci Resolve
- Experience with Adobe CC including Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator and Audition
- Experience working with cinema cameras and professional sound equipment
- Experience running social media channels
- Interest in rural and ecological issues
- Ability to respond creatively to a brief and come up with original concepts
This role will be part-time initially, with the aim to become full-time in the near future. It will also be a hybrid role, with some work being remote and some in-office or on-location.
