Job overview

We are looking for a part time Medical Photographer to join our large team. You must be willing to work as a team as well as alone. You will be expected to cover clinics off site around Cambridgeshire as well as working in our onsite locations.

We have a large team of photographers who will help you with ongoing training.

Main duties of the job

You will undertake a broad range of duties including clinical photography, general and PR photography, video production and ophthalmic imaging.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

    Degree in Photography or equivalent or: BSc or MSc in Medical photography/ Medical Illustration

Desirable criteria

    Evidence of CPD activity

    Graduate or postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma, IMI PEC, or equivalent

    Registered as a Medical illustration practitioner with AHCS.

Experience

Essential criteria

    Clinical photography: studio, teledermatology, ward, operating theatre.

    General (non-clinical) professional photography.

Desirable criteria

    Clinical photography including experience in teledermatology. Ophthalmic imaging.

    Video camera, lighting and/ or sound recording.

    Reprographic imaging: copy photography, scanning and processing of digital images to a high standard.

    Public relations photography.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

    Photographic principles, e.g. colour management, image manipulation, understanding of lighting principles and relevant photographic theory.

    Anatomy, physiology, medical terminology to an appropriate level.

Desirable criteria

    An understanding of basic anatomy.

    Image databases and their applications.

Skills

Essential criteria

    Competent clinical photographer.

    Good, professional communication with patients, public and staff.

    Image processing skills – e.g. Adobe Photoshop – to a professional level.

Desirable criteria

    Experience with using teledermatology equipment ie dermatoscope.

    Additional software skills; e.g. MS Office. (Word, Powerpoint), video editing (Apple Final Cut Pro), page layout (Adobe InDesign).

Additional Requirements

Essential criteria

    The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of safe, kind, excellent.

    Resilient to stressful sights, smells and experiences of the clinical environment.

    Good colour vision.

    Ability to bend to floor level, work at moderate heights (stepladder) and lift weights of up to 7kg.

    Good eyesight (with spectacles, if worn).

    Flexible in terms of occasional out-of-hours working.

    Must own their own car and be willing to drive to off site locations.

Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
