We’re looking for a Team Manager to join our Airside Support Unit (ASU). You will be responsible for the successful day-to-day delivery of the functions within the Unit, ensuring services are provided and delivered to the highest safety standards.
The ASU Team Manager will manage, motivate and develop the team of operatives, deploying available resources appropriately on shift and contributing to a positive passenger journey. This will be done in close collaboration with other operational teams, including our ground handling agents and airlines.
About the Airside Support Unit
The Airside Support Unit plays a key role in the delivery of our airside operation. From driving passenger coaches and sweepers to keeping our runway clear when it snows, our ASU Team play a critical role in keeping our runway safe and making sure our passengers enjoy a seamless journey.
What you’ll be doing
- You’ll have line management responsibilities for a team of ASU Operatives including managing absence and overtime, annual leave requests, performance management and development. You will work closely with our HR, Workforce Planning and Occupational Health teams to ensure Operatives are supported
- You’ll maintain communication and collaboration with third parties based at Edinburgh Airport, including Ground Handlers, our Passengers with Reduced Mobility service and Airlines to ensure effective delivery of the ASU operation
- Responsibility for all coaching and Ambulift deployment, ensuring SLAs are met
- Ensuring all driving licencing is kept live and valid and pass on to the relevant party for validation
- Liaising with the Airside Support Unit Manager and other Airside Teams to identify operational issues and resolve these through effective problem solving to safeguard the operation
- Accountability for preparing reports and operational communication such as incident reports, OSHENS, laudits and risk assessments
- Coordinating the ASU response to incidents such as deploying the winter operations team in the event of adverse weather
- Responsible for ensuring delivery of the sweeping plan, including front of terminal and the runway
- Maintaining the ASU Fleet, ensuring all vehicles are serviced, repaired and operational to meet demands
- Leading in trials and improvements within the department, working with the continuous improvement team in delivering results in performance and passenger experience
What we’re looking for
- Able to work shifts covering a 24/7 operation
- Proven experience of managing and leading people, including excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent knowledge of Chroma and Flight Radar
- Trained in IOSH to facilitate in the creating and updating of risk assessments
- A valid apron and manoeuvring area airside driving licence
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Ability to work and make decisions under pressure
- Essential: At least 1 CAT D or CAT C on your licence
- Desirable: Knowledge of Artec and Iauditor system
- Desirable: Knowledge of the ASU fleet and its operational capacity
- Desirable: Understanding of ASU operations and supporting documentation
