We are looking for a Regional Policy Advisor, primarily based in Scarborough but with some national travel, to join our Group Policy Unit. This unit supports the most senior people in the organisation to further develop strong relationships in their engagement with regional stakeholders. The Group Policy Unit currently has colleagues based in both Coventry and London who work across multiple locations under our agile working scheme to ensure a coherent service.
We need someone with first-class understanding of the devolved policy environment, excellent interpersonal skills and experience of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. You will also understand the strategic context and any political sensitivities of the work and be able to deliver written responses to local government inquiries, and other relevant sector bodies.
As our Regional Policy Advisor, you will support senior management in their engagement in the region, developing strategies and leading on the implementation of these in North Yorkshire. You will also need to be able to write formal documents for external partners and briefings for senior leaders and governors. As part of that work, you will assess how local policy positions will impact the Group.
Person Specification:
- Able to navigate the regional policy environment in such a way that will enable progression of Coventry University Group in the region
- Previous experience working with, or for, a regional policy organisation
- Knowledge of local/regional policy making process
- Demonstrable relationship building skills, being able build excellent working relationships with significant organisations in the region
- Able to work virtually with colleagues based at multiple locations
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to prioritise your work and your time to meet tight deadlines
- A background and passion for education (desirable)
