Tameside and Glossop Healthy Minds are looking to recruit a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner.

Service/Ward/Department Summary:
Pennine Care Healthy Minds works with clients aged 16 + and provides a range of evidenced based interventions for people requiring a psychological intervention between step 2 and 3 of the Stepped Care model. The IAPT service sits within a wider Primary Care Mental Health Team, with a wide range of professionals, including Nurses, psychologists, counsellors, CBT therapists and PWP’s.

The Primary Care Psychological Therapies Service is based in the centre of Ashton Under Lyne.
Role Summary
The post-holder will work mainly within the step 2 team of the IAPT Primary Care Mental Health Service providing, developing and supporting the provision of high volume, low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based interventions using a guided self help model, to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. The Senior PWP will be expected to maintain a reduced clinical caseload as well as taking on senior responsibilities such as supervision, service development, community engagement and training.
We would welcome applicants who have a particular interest in perinatal, Long term conditions or digital innovations.
A supervisor qualification is preferred.
The successful applicant needs to either be registered with the BPS or BABCP.
This is a full time position.
This isn't a remote working contract. There will be some flexibility in this but the post holder will be required to work from base on a regular basis.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
- Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service and develop programmes of care packages.
- Undertakes patient-centred assessments, which identifies areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate client assessment of risk to self and others.
- Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, refers unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or steps-up the person’s treatment to high intensity psychological therapy.
- Provide a range of information and intervention for evidence based high-volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help, computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, by telephone or within a group setting.
- Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary with the clients consent.
- Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
- Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.
- Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
- Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols and use these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision making.
- Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
- Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process.
- Operate at all times from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity.
- Prepare and present clinical information for all patients on their caseload to clinical case management supervisors within the service on an agreed and scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and the clinical governance obligations of the worker, supervisor and service are delivered.
- Respond to and implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in clinical practice.
- Engage in and respond to management supervision to improve competences, clinical practice and service development.
- To provide caseload/management supervision to Low intensity workers or trainees within the IAPT team.
- To participate in relevant operational/service development groups agreed with Line Manager.
Clinical Leadership
- To take a lead in the delivery of clinical supervision for Low Intensity Workers where appropriate.
- To ensure that clinical supervision adheres to good professional standards as outlined in the BABCP code of conduct for psychological wellbeing practitioners.
- To facilitate the accreditation of psychological wellbeing practitioners.
- To facilitate training for clinical staff within the IAPT Team in Step 2 interventions.
- To support staff to meet their recovery rates target in line with service provision.
- Lead on clinical developments for the delivery of CBT, groups’ intervention and other clinical innovations.
