We are looking for the right people to support Sophie in her own home in High Heaton, Newcastle. Sophie is a young woman with a learning disability and Epilepsy who needs support to attend college and live independently. She has just moved into her own home and is going through a period of transition requiring extra support, resilience and a kind, nurturing approach.

We are looking for people to join the permanent team here, to build a professional relationship with Sophie in order to deliver the highest quality support. You’d help to enable Sophie to be as independent as possible, supporting her to engage in college and community activities, assisting with preparing meals and including her in decisions about her home. This includes ‘sleep ins’ where you would be stay at Sophie’s home overnight.

A sample shift pattern could be Weekdays 9am – 9pm; 3pm - 9pm; Weekends 9am – 9am the following day. We would consider both part time and full time applicants.

This role would suit someone that enjoys providing a caring and inspiring environment where engaging with Sophie in all her day to day activities and working alongside her is the focus of all you do.

You’ll be passionate about making a difference to Sophie’s life. You will work as part of a team of support workers striving to make experiences and situations positive, promoting individual choice and independence. This will include developing community links and relationships, volunteering opportunities and life skills. If you have experience in a care or support role, this is a benefit, but we will also provide training to people new to a career in social care.

You will need basic IT skills, and we will provide the required training to support you in role.

Due to the needs of the people we support, the postholders must be female and able to work some overnight shifts.

What would you be doing?

As a Support Worker you would have a varied role. You would be responsible for:
