An exciting opportunity has arisen for dynamic, experienced Band 2 HCAs to become part of a well-established and progressive team.
A challenging and busy environment the Pre-Operative Assessment Service is a specialist team, providing assessment, investigations and information to a wide group of patients prior to surgery. Expected to uphold and ensure that high standards of care and professionalism are maintained and delivered with care and compassion.
Required to support a nurse led clinic performing ECG's , Phlebotomy and discussing Health Promotion with the patients. Your duties will include greeting the patients, taking and recording observations, height, weight, BMI and you will be expected to attend the trusts courses for performing phlebotomy, obtaining transfusion samples and performing ECG's. Following which you will receive mentorship to complete the competencies for these. In house training will also be given.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, be motivated and enthusiastic with a holistic approach to care and the ability to work well as a team and on your own initiative. The successful candidate will have opportunities to develop their skills within the department by attending training courses relevant to this specialist role.
This is an exciting role for a band 2 HCA to work with patients to help plan their surgical journey and involves working closely with senior colleagues to ensure that patients are safe to undergo surgery and Anaesthesia.
To ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered in an effective and efficient manner reflecting the overall philosophy of the service.
Contribute to the development of a learning culture to ensure growth and development of the team and the unit.
You will meet and greet the patients as they arrive, carry out their observations and investigations including ECG's and Phlebotomy.
You will use pics and clinical portal to document and outcome patients
Escalate any concerns to the senior care assistant and nurse in charge
Successful achievement of competencies and training is required to facilitate full undertaking of the role.
