The Smoking Cessation Practitioner is responsible for delivering a smoking cessation service for the Swansea Bay population.
As part of this service, the post holder will provide intensive behavioural support and advice to smokers who wish to stop. The post holder is responsible for working with patients and clients to develop a treatment plan in order to deliver this support and help them stop smoking. The post holder is responsible for maintaining and inputting patient records into a database and ensuring patients receive adequate support . The post holder will also work with staff in the Health Board to promote the service and support staff to carry out very brief advice interventions .
Help Me Quit(HMQ) is the NHS integrated smoking cessation system that offers a central point of contact to help smokers across Wales to access NHS support to help them quit. We seeking a motivated Stop Smoking Practitioner, to be part of the integrated smoking cessation service, in the Swansea Bay University Health Board area.
You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills, and experience of working with service users to make a positive behaviour change.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team of smoking cessation practitioners to provide specialist behavioural support and advice to smokers who want to quit.
You will be expected to deliver support through established community groups, or one to one consultation in person or via telephone/ virtual consultations. Working within locally defined areas, covering a number of clinics in a range of settings in community and secondary care.
You will have excellent organisational skills, and experience of using technology is essential. You will be responsible for accurate recording of service user information electronically throughout each day, to ensure that record keeping meets the team’s standards for service delivery.
You will also need the ability to positively influence the actions of others, and must be a non-smoker or someone who has stopped for over a year
The team' is based at Cimla, however you will also be working in the community or secondary care, therefore you will need to be self motivated and able to work autonomously. There is a significant demand for our service outside of office hours, thus the candidate should be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays.
Previous experience in a smoking cessation work is advantageous, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
The role is open to part time candidates, and working hours will include ongoing evening and weekend clinics.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
