Job Purpose
We are building a pool of staff who are looking for work in the traditional school holiday periods. The short courses offer a wide range of academic options for students, as well as a varied program of sports, well-being and craft based activities.
We are looking for a diverse mix of staff and would like to hear from recent graduates, experienced summer ‘camp’ coordinators or experience leisure staff.
Staff will assist in running activities for students of all ages as well as overseeing the use of our on-site, extensive leisure facilities. Our leisure assistants ensure the smooth operation of the Student Gym, Swimming Pool, Muggles Activity Centre, and the Atrium .
This job description is written at a specific time and is subject to change as the demands of the Collegiate and the role develops. The role requires flexibility and adaptability and the employees of the Collegiate need to be aware that they may be asked to perform tasks and be given responsibilities not detailed in this job description.
Duties and responsibilities
- Deliver the Short Course programme to all attendees.
- Deliver fun and engaging activities.
- Assist in the general running of each short course.
- Help students to navigate their daily timetables, support staff in the arrangement of each day and communicate with all team members as required.
- Be a positive, energetic, and enthusiastic team member to ensure that our short course attendees receive the best possible experience.
- Supervision of facilities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures set out by the SFM. Including leading of outdoor activities at Muggles Activity Centre
- Supervision and monitoring of student behaviour in attendance
- General maintenance and upkeep of facilities, ensure facilities and equipment are maintained to a high standard, reporting any faults to the relevant departments using the appropriate reporting channels, recording faults on the fault reporting site
- Carry out maintenance, cleaning, and health and safety checks on equipment within the leisure facilities
- Check facility prior to opening to ensure all litter or debris is disposed of and ensure facility is in good working order
- Ensure, always to be identifiable by wearing correct uniform with name badge
- Undertake any training as required by the school or SFM. This includes but is not limited to; Child Protection and Safeguarding, In-house training, offsite climbing wall instructor training, lifeguard training.
- Work with other departments within the Estate to ensure the smooth operation of facilities, such as Boarding, Academic, and Pastoral.
- Actively promote evening and weekend facilities available to best maximise usage.
- Enforce school policies and contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
- Record and report all incidents, accidents and near misses
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection. Report all concerns to the appropriate person(s)
- Support the department with their duties as required, covering for illness/absence as required, whenever possible
- Ensure all visitors are received courteously and professionally, following the school’s visitor security procedure
- Lifting/movement of equipment as required for maintenance and cleaning
- Carry out day to day administrative roles i.e. emails
- Be responsible for occasional cash handling, i.e. changing small denominations to enable students to play arcade machines in Muggles Activity Centre, or to purchase items in the vending machines across the site
- Work evenings and weekends
- Administrative duties as required
