The role
The Fugro Environmental team within the Marine Site Characterisation business line is now looking for a Report Coordinator/Senior Marine Environmental Scientist to support the reporting function undertaken in our Portsmouth and Edinburgh Heriot Watt University campus offices.
The Marine Environmental team specialises in environmental site characterisation and environmental monitoring. The data we collect enables our clients and regulatory organisations to fully understand the effects of developments and activities in the coastal and marine environment.
Reporting to the Client Deliverables Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the project report schedule and coordinating resources to ensure timely, high quality and cost-efficient report production. Mentoring and line management of report personnel.
Your key responsibilities will include maintaining report scheduling and line management of report team staff in production of project deliverables to ensure reports meet client and industry needs and are carried out to company specific standards in line with our QHSSE policies. With a technical background in a marine environmental science discipline you will also provide technical input, review and quality control of report deliverables.
The position is a one-year fixed term contract providing maternity cover which can be based out of our Portsmouth Harbour or Edinburgh Heriot Watt University campus offices.
Who we’re looking for:
Essential
- BSc in Marine Science or Environmental Science, or equivalent.
- Good understanding of marine sensitive habitat assessment and environmental baseline surveys.
- Experience of marine environmental technical report writing with specialist knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines: benthic communities and habitat classification, marine ecology chemistry, water quality, marine mammals, underwater noise / mitigation, fish ecology, Environmental legislation.
- Project or team leader experience.
- Good Microsoft Office capabilities.
- Excellent organisational, presentation and communication skills.
- Proven ability to work to deadlines.
Desirable
- MSc or PhD in Marine Science or Environmental Science or relevant equivalent.
- Experience conducting marine environmental surveys.
- Experience of statistical analysis.
- Experience of geographic information system (GIS) software.
- Experience of interpreting geophysical data.
- Clean driving licence.
- Renewables industry experience.
