Overview
This role will support manufacturing and stock preparation activities on the Bio-Techne Bristol site across multiple categories including both GMP and Research Use Only products. This will include supporting chemistry laboratory activities and using either laboratory, warehouse or cleanroom-based activities to prepare stocks of products for sale.
Core Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Laboratory Technician include the following:
- Use and maintenance (as required) of laboratory equipment including centrifugal concentrator/freeze dryer/liquid handling robotics/fluorometer.
- Preparation of kitted products including preparation of individual components via either weighing or other methods and subsequent combination of components into retail kits
- Undertake RUO and GMP weighing activities ensuring high quality standards are maintained and all product documentation or electronic systems are accurately updated.
- Supporting laboratory GMP manufacturing by undertaking tasks such as cleanroom or manufacturing zone preparation activities
- Pick and pack orders for despatch ensuring accuracy of consignments
- Ensure that all packages are prepared in accordance with the regulatory guidelines for transportation and that all despatch paperwork is accurately presented with the goods.
- Accurate, thorough and attentive to detail when handling tasks
- Numerate and literate
- Good team worker – able to work cross functionally with multiple departments
- Self-motivated and initiative to work autonomously with little or no supervision
- Ability to run basic calculations such as reconstitution/dilution
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in controlled manufacturing environments including cleanrooms
- Good IT skills; ability to use M/S Office software (especially Word, Excel and Access), Tocris’ Product Database, Pegasus OPERA (training will be provided) and any other tools relevant to role
- Willingness to grow knowledge of Tocris products, services, customers and marketplace
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and safe chemical handling
- Knowledge of weighing/packing procedures, including operation of digital balances
Key performance indicators
- Continuity of global stock availability (expectation is >98% of stock lines should be available worldwide at all times).
- Accuracy of product preparation & storage (expectation is that >99% of stock preparation activities will be accurate in every respect and >99% of products will be stored correctly).
- Accuracy of stock information recorded on Tocris’ systems (target is that Tocris systems will reflect actual stock position with an accuracy of >99%).
