Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 40 hours per week including Saturday rota
The Laboratory at Dick White Referrals (DWR), Powered by Antech Diagnostics is looking for a Bioveterinary or Senior Bioveterinary Scientist to join our veterinary diagnostic laboratory situated within our brand new, purpose-built veterinary hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing business who have been around for over 30 years!
We are looking for a skilled Bioveterinary Scientist with previous experience of working within a clinical laboratory dealing with biological samples (experience in human or veterinary pathology would be beneficial). You would be expected to work across a range of disciplines including haematology, clinical chemistry, cytology, flow cytometry and microbiology. Full training will be provided as required.

Key responsibilities include:
- Analysing blood samples using automated analysers including the ADVIA 2120i, Beckman AU480, and Immulite 2000.
- Perform coagulation tests, blood typing and cross-matching as required
- Preparing, staining, and scanning cytology samples for evaluation by clinical pathologists
- Read, understand, and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Carry out routine analyser setup, equipment QC, and maintenance.
- Performing all work under strict quality control and per QA guidelines.
- Participate in all departmental training to ensure ongoing technical competency.
- Assist the Lead Technician in managing the inventory.
- Comply with laboratory Health and Safety procedures.
- Ensure work area is clean and organised, and adequately stocked.
Experience and skill set required:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a Science related field
- A minimum of 1-year clinical laboratory experience which must include specimen receipt and processing.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Organised with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high throughput environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good customer service and reasoning skills
- Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to adapt and be flexible to meet the demands of the business.
