Job Description

GVC has been exclusively engaged a wonderful Vet Clinic based in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne to find either a full time or part time Surgical Nurse to join a bunch of highly enthusiastic and bright individuals. Please see below for an overview of our client and their current requirements.

If you’re looking to contribute your veterinary skills to a growing, progressive clinic where you’ll get to make a positive impact on small animals and the humans who love them, you’re in the right place!
Their mission is to create a work environment that supports and empowers you to help you realise your potential and thrive in your role so that you can provide the best care possible to your patients.
If you are…
  • Passionate about helping animals (this is not “just a job” for you)
  • Eager to continue growing both personally and professionally.
  • Craving a healthy work-life balance

…then we encourage you to apply to Kieron at GVC. We offer a competitive salary, mentorship opportunities, supportive work environment and more!
Here's who we're looking for... (ideally, of course!)

We need a talented surgical nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience who is looking for the next step in his or her nursing career. The ideal candidate understands the importance of a close-knit team with shared values for providing excellent care and is open to giving and receiving constructive feedback to continually learn and grow.

As part of our exceptional team, you will…
Have the autonomy and resources you need to provide the highest level of care:
  • Practise in a custom-built clinic that has the equipment to provide the best in veterinary care (including being a cat accredited clinic)
  • Have the space to exercise your judgement, but also the support you need to provide the best possible care
  • Enjoy a work-life balance, with no on call (working days are Monday to Friday with one in four Saturdays)
  • Receive a fantastic salary based on your experience and the value you bring
  • Work with a variety of species, including cats, dogs, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, and wildlife

Have access to exceptional personal and professional development opportunities:
  • One on one mentoring from senior nurses
  • Opportunity to work closely with and learn from visiting surgical and ultrasound specialists
  • Access to technical training and professional development courses
  • Impactful personal and team development by working with our on-staff organisational psychologist.

Enjoy a nurturing work environment that allows you to realise your full potential:
  • An environment in which everyone has a voice and opportunity to have a real input on how the clinic grows and operates
  • A healthy work culture founded on the values of Growth, Trust, Respect, and Professionalism
  • An organisational psychologist dedicated to supporting the team to do their best
  • Be treated with respect and consideration, always
  • A supportive team of like-minded professionals for whom this is a passion, not “just a job”
  • Regular check-ins via daily group huddles, weekly team meetings, and offsite team alignment days to ensure your ideas are heard.

Does this sound like you?

Professional Qualifications
  • For you, veterinary nursing is not just a job – it’s a calling!
  • You are resilient, adaptable, and courageous enough to embrace new challenges because you understand that growth happens outside of your comfort zone.
  • You’ve got stellar communication skills for interacting with both co-workers and clients.
  • You demonstrate as much respect and care for our clients as you extend to their animals.
  • You demonstrate flexibility in adopting new ways of doing things and an eagerness to develop professionally.

Professional Qualifications
  • You’ve got at least 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Nurse.
  • You are proficient in monitoring anaesthesia.
  • You are keen to grow, develop, and challenge yourself in a variety of areas including nursing, leadership and client relationship building.

This role is advertised by Global Veterinary Careers who operate as an employment business and emplacement agency. We have the largest selection of opportunities from our global marketplace and take on new and exclusive first opinion and specialist roles, worldwide daily. Should you be interested in a more detailed conversation in how we can support you, please get in touch with our team of veterinary careers advisors today.
