We are looking for a highly motivated individual to recruit to the position of Assistant Psychologist to join the Department of Psychological Therapies at Thornford Park Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to provide Assistant Psychologist support to a Female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit.
We are looking for an Assistant psychologist with some experience of working with adults with mental health difficulties, and a passion to learn and develop, to join our friendly team at Thornford Park. Thornford Park has a team of psychologists, art therapists, dramatherapists, trainee forensic psychologist, speech and language therapist, and assistant psychologists, with expertise in working with people with a wide range of presenting difficulties, including acute mental illness, learning disability, autism, violent offending, sex offending, substance use problems, personality disorder, and enduring mental health difficulties.
Thornford Park Hospital, part of Elysium Healthcare, is an independent 143 bedded hospital set in 23 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Newbury, Berkshire (close to the Hampshire borders).
Reporting to a Registered Psychologist, you will join the psychology team where you will be guided and supervised as you assist with assessments, formulations and treatments to people within a group and 1-1 setting.
As a Psychologist Assistant, you will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- To hold a caseload of clinical work, including carrying out individual psychological intervention
- Undertake collaborative risk assessment and management for individual patients and to provide general advice
- Carry out these duties in consultation with the Lead Psychologist and identified supervisor, and contribute to the maintenance and development of a high quality psychological service
To be successful in this role, you'll need
- Upper second class honours degree in Psychology
- Relevant paid or voluntary work with people with mental health problems/Learning Disability.
- To meet professional practice expectations and the BPS code of ethics
- A BPS accredited recognised degree in Psychology conferring Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR)
