Job Description
As a Senior Scientist you will be primarily laboratory-based, working with our highly skilled team to ensure that analytical sciences LC-MS assays, both commercial and R&D focused, are performed to a high standard and within scheduled timeframes. In addition, as a visible leader in the group, utilizing excellent communication, organizational and technical skills, you will support the training and development of staff, improving the team’s knowledge and processes. Role: Senior Scientist - High Throughput, Permanent
Direct Report: to Associate Principal Scientist, Analytical Sciences
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Starting from £33,000 pa, dependant on skills and experience, excellent benefits package plus annual bonuses.
Location: Alderley Park, Macclesfield, SK10 4TG.

As a result of year-on-year success within the company and continued business growth, exciting opportunities have arisen to join our team of highly skilled scientists in our High-Throughput Analytical laboratories.
Role and Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct both routine and Analytical Sciences assays including MS/MS compound optimisation and LC method optimisation for high volumes of compounds using automated tools and established processes
- To be a senior point of contact, for the team and study managers, for operational and scientific support across all routine assays, including problem solving, data analysis and data interpretation.
- To effectively plan and communicate assay schedule within the team and cross-functional groups.
- To drive and support assay development and validation.
- To collaborate with scientists and regularly present findings to the group.
- To ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported to your supervisor with minimal delay.
- To keep up to date with relevant scientific advances and regulatory guidelines in the field of Analytical Sciences.
- To ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean and in proper working order on completion of assigned tasks.
- To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies.
Skills & Competencies (essential)
- Minimum BSc in relevant scientific discipline covering chemistry with experience of working within industry
- Produce accurate documentation and report all analytical activities and results in a clear and coherent manner, maintaining the highest standards of quality and compliance, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work without close supervision.
- Highly motivated team player with a high level of dedication.
- Plan, schedule and carry out your work effectively for successful project completion.
- Experience in working with LC-MS/MS techniques in support of pre-clinical small/large molecule assays.
- Experience with MassLynx™, Analyst™ or other Mass Spectrometry data-acquisition software packages.
- A wider knowledge of analytical support in drug discovery/development.
- A knowledge of DMPK/ADME assays within drug discovery.
- The ability to perform routine maintenance on LC-MS/MS equipment
People
- Coach, mentor and line manage other members of the team meetings, regular 1 to1 discussions and ad hoc interactions.
