Role: Cleaning Assistant - Oriam Grade and Salary: Grade 3, £20,578 - £21,761 per annum FTE and working pattern: 1 FTE, 37.5 Hours per week, shift pattern-based work Holiday Entitlement: 28 days annual leave plus 9 buildings closed days (and Christmas Eve when it falls on a weekday) About Oriam Oriam has a vision to inspire, engage and motivate our communities through the facilities we provide and the interactions we have with our customers. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the delivery of the strategy. Purpose of Role The Cleaning Assistant will support the facility team to always deliver a clean and safe environment. Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities The Cleaning Assistant will clean day to day used spaces regularly The Cleaning Assistant will work through long term cleaning when available The Cleaning Assistant will clean Partner and office spaces within Oriam The Cleaning Assistant will always deliver Customer excellence Education, Qualifications & Experience These are the criteria on which the short-listing and recruitment selection will be made Essential Demonstrable ability to speak and understand English to follow verbal and written instructions and deal with customer/student queries Well-developed interpersonal skills Demonstrable excellent customer service Demonstrable ability to work quickly, flexibly, and accurately in a pressured environment Demonstrable professional and proactive approach Attention to detail Desirable Experience of working within a similar catering and/or cleaning environment Experience of operating relevant catering and/or cleaning equipment Competencies, Tasks and Responsibilities The tasks and responsibilities listed under the following Competency Headings form part of all campus services roles in Oriam at this level and it is expected that the role-holder will always perform them to at least an effective standard. Teamwork Actively participate in, contribute to and support colleagues across the team and Oriam Cover duties for and support other colleagues within the team as required Demonstrate tasks to new colleagues Service Excellence Carry out duties to the agreed service standards set by Oriam in a timely fashion Keep the working area clean and tidy in line with appropriate H&S requirements Report any concerns regarding standards of cleanliness and/or health and safety to the supervisor immediately Create a positive image of Oriam by being responsive, prompt, and courteous when responding to requests or enquiries from customers Provide a friendly service which gives the customer what they have asked for Clear and Consistent Communications Always maintain confidentiality by following Oriam policies and guidance relating to dealing with confidential or personal information Follow clear verbal and written instructions (in English) Complete checklists, stock records or similar documents clearly as required for the role Planning and Organising Carry out routine tasks and instructions from the standard daily schedule to the required standard in a timely fashion Carry out occasional one-off tasks and instructions as directed by the supervisor Provide appropriate support for absent colleagues as directed by the supervisor At the end of the working day tidy and clear up work area and leave everything as it should be for the next person working there Initiative and Problem Solving Follow standard procedures, training manuals and guidelines to solve day to day issues Use experience and initiative to decide when to pass non-standard issues your supervisor or line manager Make suggestions to your supervisor for better working practice or solving problems based in experience Decision Making Understand which tools/equipment should be used when carrying out work tasks Refer any non-standard requests or issues (for example from customers) to the supervisor in line with agreed procedures Understand and follow the process to escalate any customer issues or concerns to the supervisor in a timely fashion Management Responsibilities There are no management responsibilities within this position, but you may be asked to take on supervisor duties on occasion as part of your personal development Citizenship Always demonstrate the Oriam Behaviours and University Values through leadership, performance, and behaviour Participate in ad-hoc duties to support the team/Oriam and for personal development Support newer or inexperienced colleagues within and outside the Oriam by offering support, help and advice Positively promote the Oriam internally and externally through positive behaviour and supporting University-wide activities This job description is intended as a flexible framework which outlines the key general areas of activity in your position.
