The role
Fugro’s Environmental Services department within the Marine Site Characterisation business line is now looking to recruit an Assistant Chemist based in the Edinburgh office on a one year fixed term contract with the potential to be made permanent. You will assist with laboratory work (both organic and inorganic), ordering of laboratory materials and assisting with routine analytical analysis. The role will be laboratory based. You will perform general maintenance tasks in the laboratories including maintenance of equipment, consumables and quality control checks and you will assist more senior technicians and chemists in the management, preparation, testing and analysis of samples.
Who we’re looking for:
- Degree in Chemistry, Marine Science, Environmental Science or relevant science subject.
- Experience in laboratory work.
- Knowledge of a wide range of analytical methodologies.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Computer literate including use of spreadsheets and databases.
- An interest in the chemical analysis of environmental samples.
- You have a strong eye for detail and are able to follow set procedures competently and accurately.
