Veterinary Theatre Technician
– Specialist referrals (small animal orthopaedics and neurology)
Full time (40 hours per week) with 6.6 weeks annual leave.
Movement Referrals is a new independent provider of Specialist referral services in veterinary orthopaedics, neurosurgery and neurology, operating from a brand-new 8000sqft facility at Preston Brook, near Runcorn in the Northwest of England (Junction 11, M56). The practice is led by a team of experienced Specialists supported clinically by a team of nurses and interns.
We are seeking a theatre technician to join our growing team having launched our new referral centre in early May 2023.
Responsibilities include:
- The cleaning, maintenance and sterilisation of surgical instrumentation
- Management of surgical implant stock
- Setting up, turning around and closing down surgical suites and scrub areas
- Assisting in the transportation of patients to and from surgical suites
- Liaising with the surgical nursing team
- Preparation of patients for surgical procedures
- Setting up surgical equipment for daily procedures
- Maintaining clinical standards
Essential criteria:
I. Experience of working with animals
II. Handling customer data in a confidential manner
III. The capacity to stay calm in stressful situations
IV. Attention to detail and accuracy
V. Being able to work independently and collaborate within a busy team
VI. Satisfaction in achieving high standards of cleanliness and organisation
Desirable criteria:
I. Flexibility in assisting other departments when required
II. Experience in customer-facing roles
III. Knowledge and experience of veterinary administration duties
Salary and benefits: We are looking to recruit a balanced team with a blend of skills and experience. Accordingly, salary offers will be commensurate with experience but competitive.
