Production Operator
At Portsmouth Water we have been supplying water to Portsmouth and the surrounding area since 1857. For 365 days of the year our water treatment works are in constant operation ensuring that we meet the water demands of our customers. Our production team operate and maintain our treatment works and due to a department restructure we have several exciting vacancies that we are looking to fill. The successful applicant will be self-motivated, smart phone literate, flexible and have good attention to detail, working as part of a team ensuring all work is carried out in line with the Company’s procedures and in full compliance with onsite Health and Safety. We are currently seeking a Production Operator to work at our water treatment works, reservoirs and booster stations across Hampshire and West Sussex. Working with our production operational and technical department you will ensure effective and continuous operation of sites to meet customer demand, operating and optimising all processes and equipment on our water treatment works to ensure, water quality, compliance, safety, and operational efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Visiting water treatment works, booster stations, reservoirs and monitoring sites to carry out essential duties.
- Carrying out tasks to ensure that our treatment works are operating efficiently at all times to supply our customers with wholesome water.
- Data collection of water quality and asset performance.
- Valve operations and schematic reading.
- Basic maintenance and tasks associated with chemicals e.g. chlorine gas cylinder changing, bulk liquid chemicals deliveries among others.
- Participate in a busy standby rota (Minimum of 1 in 4 weeks)
This role requires the following qualifications and skills: (Full training provided where necessary)
- Working in High Risk Confined space (including the use of self-contained breathing apparatus)
- Level 2 water operations qualification.
- Experience in working with HMI systems.
- Good business/stakeholder awareness, together with an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving and strong team working and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A full current driving license is essential, and a driving assessment will be undertaken
