The BWD Corporate Building Team (CBT) is an ambitious and forward thinking construction team that aim to provide first class building services to BWDBC’s property portfolio via the application of continuous improvement, innovation and a drive to develop its employees and working processes. The aim is to ensure that the boroughs residents, colleagues and visitors can enjoy well-equipped, purposeful, and safe building environments, whilst being proud of the facilities and the services that they provide.
The CBT are now looking to appoint a highly motivated Plumber to join its ‘in house’ building team to help provide industrial, commercial and domestic; property maintenance, installation, repairs, servicing, and testing works to a variety of public buildings, education establishments, private dwellings and social housing throughout the borough.
Applicants must have a proven record of regular & reliable attendance, be ‘time served’ with at least 1 years post apprenticeship experience of working within a Plumbing installation / contracting / maintenance background, and be qualified to City & Guilds / NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
The CBT are looking for people that have a ‘right first time’ approach to works and a desire to improve self and others. Applicants should have a sound knowledge of construction Health & Safety, with the ability to carry out dynamic risk assessments, and work in line with safe systems of works and risk assessments.
Flexibility is key to the role, therefore you must be capable of working in diverse environments, and comfortable with working with a blend of corporate and vulnerable clients and other stakeholders to provide a safe, sensitive, and professional service in both private settings and busy occupied commercial premises.
Example duties may include:
- Installing and maintaining plumbing works in commercial settings
- Providing emergency response cover to associated plumbing defects
- Project works- working as part of the team to provide refurbishments within Council buildings
- Installing bathroom/home adaptations as part of Adult & Children’s DFG’s (disability facilities grants) schemes
- Carrying out testing and inspection e.g. – Legionella / TMV testing
Applicants must also be comfortable with working to deadlines and productivity targets that enable the team to meet income objectives, balancing priorities, communicating effectively with customers and clients, and completing all associated paperwork/ reports in line with jobbing requirements.

CBT employees work a standard 5 day / 37 hour working week-
- Monday – Thursday 08:00– 16:45
- Friday 1 - 08:00 – 12:00
There may be occasional variations to the above working hours to suit business needs and a flexible requirement to work overtime by agreement on some occasions.
