Fixed-Term / Full Time Position

About the Role

We are inviting applications for a fixed-term Microbiologist post from people with expertise in microbiology to join the Medical Technologies Innovation Facility (MTIF) technical team. The post is a fixed term contract until the 31st of July 2024, with possibility of extension beyond this. You will work closely with clients to fulfil microbiology contracts that include antimicrobial susceptibility testing, strain identification, enumeration and ‘omics technologies – this will involve working closely with both internal and external experts and with commercial partners on a variety of projects from routine testing to developing new and emerging technologies in the area of microbiology.

Principal duties and responsibilities: You will work in the MTIF Clifton Site in our BSL2 category laboratories using the latest cutting edge specialist instrumentation and with access to sector leading expertise. You will liaise with our customers on a regular basis, providing microbiological data, know-how and reporting as required.

MTIF is a dual site research and development facility available to industry and academic institutions to support and accelerate the development of innovative medical technologies. We are looking for a microbiologist who is an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will focus on developing a cutting edge microbiology facility that is fully integrated into other offerings within our facility, including ‘omics technologies, mammalian cell culture and other analytical techniques.

Working with leading scientists from the university and other institutions, you will assist our customers with their microbiology requirements from routine testing to bespoke assay and model development.
