Job Description

This post provides an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic multi-disciplinary group that provides scientific support for both Ionising and Non-Ionising Radiation in both the provision of radiation protection services and imaging.

This Band 7 role supports all aspects of the work of the Radiology Physics ‘unsealed sources’ sub section. Ideally you will be registered with HCPC as a clinical scientist; however, applications from non-registered individuals with significant experience of radiation safety of radioactive substances (open and closed sources) will be considered. Support will be provided to achieve registration.

As a member of the ‘unsealed sources’ sub section, the post holder will be delivering radiation protection and scientific support services to nuclear medicine, laboratory, radiotherapy, and estates departments within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and other NHS and commercial organisations within South Yorkshire and beyond.

We require applicants from individuals with an appetite to address the challenges of an existing demanding workload, service growth and ongoing improvement.

To support the appointed Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste Advisers and technical staff in the provision of quality assured radiation protection services for ionising radiations across an extensive customer base, to include NHS Trusts, private institutions, educational premises, and commercial organisations.

Duties will include:

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

Please view the attached Job Description and Person Specification documents for full details regarding this post.

When completing your application please ensure that you clearly demonstrate how you meet the role criteria.
