Roundwood Pet Hospice

Job Description

Job description

Remote Patient Care Coordinator required for Pet Hospice & In Home Euthanasia Service. UK based.

Are you ready to make a lasting impact on pets and families?

Do you have good communication and organisational skills?

Are you compassionate and have a desire to help pet owners?

Are you reliable, proactive and self-motivated enough to work from home?

If so, then read on, we may have the role you are looking for.

About us

Roundwood Pet Hospice exists to help pets live well right to the end, and leave families with enduring, happy memories.

We provide palliative care for pets, providing in-home euthanasia, end of life care, telehealth and pet loss support. We believe that all pets deserve a peaceful farewell in the place that they feel most comfortable, surrounded by loved ones. So we created a vet service to allow families and pets a dignified and loving pet euthanasia experience at home.

Our team offers compassionate care, open-minded guidance and grief support to pet owners who are deciding when, how and why to either euthanise or how they can help their pet live well in their final chapter of life.

Though the work we do with families seems sad to some, the work itself is very uplifting because our clients are incredibly grateful for our work and the support we give.

It is important that we also mention our practice culture because our people come first. We believe that we can only offer our clients outstanding service if we have a happy and talented team. Culture is not the only thing, but it’s a huge thing when it comes to working together. Our culture is based on a set of values which we take very seriously. These values are: Honesty, Conscientiousness, Kindness, Teamwork, Fun and Growth. We’ll happily expand on them in long form when we meet. If you share these values we’ll get along.

About the role

This is a remote position, speaking to pet owners that would like further information about our services and to book an appointment for in-home euthanasia. You will also be supporting families through the loss of their pet by listening to them and helping them to move through the stages of grief we all encounter when we are facing the loss of a loved family member. In doing so, you will be helping them to remember the joyful memories of a life well spent, rather than just the sadness at the end.

The role will require some important skills and attributes in order to be successful.

Firstly, being both empathetic and compassionate is essential. Coupled to this is the need to be able to recognise and appropriately handle a range of strong emotions our clients experience. This can be anything from grief, to anger. But it will also include happiness, relief, gratitude and, best of all, love.

You will need to have to have an outstanding ‘phone manner’, and be able to write well using email.

Sometimes people call with animals they deeply love and probably should have made the decision to say goodbye sooner. In such circumstances it can be easy for some people to judge. If that’s you, this isn’t the right role. We don’t have terms and conditions on our compassion. If someone is courageous enough to call for our help, then we offer help without judgement.

In terms of the skills you’ll need to perform this role well, here’s what you’ll have to be very good at:

You will also need a good stable wifi connection with a consistant download speed of at least 15 Mbps and a upload speed of at least 5 Mbps as well as a quiet working environment.

The job will require you to be available to field phone calls and emails from clients who need our help. Due to the nature of the enquiry replies must be prompt, giving the information the client needs as soon as it is possible.

Your hours will be:

26 hours per week on a rota basis, Monday to Friday and covering every other weekend, your shift will fall between the hours of 9am - 6pm.

20 days holiday (pro rata) a year plus bank holidays, permitted to be taken at set periods.
