As a hospital porter you will be assisting in the flow of patients through the hospital by taking patients to and collecting patients from G4S Ambulance vehicles. This could be assisting patients to their appointments or from waiting areas to their transport home.You may be assisting with patients on stretchers, in wheelchairs or who just need a helping hand. Key responsibilities: Liaising with control staff on the arrival and departure of patients Covering calls to the Patient Transport desk Working on the reception when required Providing patients with information about their ongoing journey Moving patients on stretchers or wheelchairs Moving of stores or equipment Moving of patient belongings if required Making the patients feel comfortable and at ease by being friendly and helpful Transfer patients to where they need to go, this will involve having to lift or push patients. Able to work alongside staff and patients Other duties appropriate as may be required from time to time. To attend/participate in any training in person or on line deemed appropriate and necessary to ensure effective performance and personal development Seek guidance if something isn’t right Work with enthusiasm and commitment Keep at it, sorting out problems along the way Take personal responsibility for achieving results Be honest and professional Communicate clearly Support other G4S staff and Hospital staff Working conditions: The work can be physically demanding as porters are on their feet throughout the day, and often have to push wheelchairs and trolleys.
