We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician with experience in secondary care to work within our team, predominantly at the Burnley site.
You will be trained in core areas of pharmacy, enabling you to work as a team leader, overseeing workload and resource. We are looking for pharmacy technicians who have an accredited accuracy checking qualification, and who have strong communication and leadership skills. Candidates will be highly motivated, passionate about patient care, a team player and someone that can respond to the pace of a busy acute Trust.
The successful candidate will be able to carry out a range of supply and dispensing duties, including team lead duties once trained. We are looking for someone who will be able to oversee technical elements of our medicines management agenda, including timely supply of medicines, audit, workload management, medicines optimisation, controlled drug supply, and medicines reconciliation. The right candidate must have excellent organisational skills and be a strong communicator.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and oversight of our dispensary at BGTH and deliver ward based services. To provide support to the BGTH the hours requirements of this role are:
09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday.
Weekends and Bank Holidays must be worked at Blackburn site on a rota, and provide a good opportunity for over time pay/or lieu time.

Our pharmacy team is big enough to meet the demands of a busy acute hospital, but small enough to be able to provide individual support and training to team members. We offer a full 4 week induction period, and tailored training plans. The post holder will :
- Deputise for the Senior Pharmacy Technician as delegated and as designated in their absence
- Support the Assistant Directors of Pharmacy in providing a high quality, cost effective and efficient patient centred pharmacy service to the Trust
- Work in partnership with the Lead Pharmacy Technician and Senior
Technicians in the provision of a high quality, cost effective and efficient
patient centred pharmacy service to the Trust
- Supervise the team of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistant Technical Officers (ATO) involved in the delivery of the service and medicines risk management
- Supervise and co-ordinate the day to day technical operation of the
section/department, ensuring that the service is provided in accordance with relevant professional, ethical, legal and locally agreed policies, procedures, guidelines and standards
- Ensure staffing resource is adequate for the requirement of the service on a day-to-day basis
- Maintain and develop the highest standards of patient-focused care in the
provision of technical services
- Support the governance and medicines risk management agenda locally
- Support the development of the technician and assistant teams to complement and facilitate multidisciplinary working
- Act as a role model in the field of clinical technician pharmacy practice and provide a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service in line with
corporate objectives and government initiatives
- Support the agreed policies and procedures for safe medicines use and
support mechanisms to promote high quality medicine use, effective risk
management, clinical governance and adherence to Trust policies and
guidelines concerning medicines use
- Contribute to the development of the service
- Support the professional development of pharmacy technicians and ATOs
- Be responsible for a key area of the pharmacy service provision
