The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Hull is a major contributor to the region’s healthcare workforce and carries out world-leading research. The Centre for Biomedicine addresses some of the biggest health challenges facing society, uses existing strengths within Hull York Medical School to make major discoveries in the complex interactions that occur on a whole-body level in health and disease. Biomedical research at Hull focusses on the significant societal and biomedical challenge of multi-morbidity. Within this overarching challenge sit the research sub-themes of Wound Healing & Respiratory, Diabetes & Metabolism, Cancer Imaging, and Cardiovascular & Haemostasis.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and growing haemostasis / thrombosis research group as a Research Laboratory Technician as part of a prestigious externally funded award to Dr Dan Hampshire in the Hull York Medical School Centre for Biomedicine at the University of Hull. The post holder will undertake laboratory experiments in molecular and cellular biology and support the smooth operation of research projects in Dr Hampshire’s research group, which aims to investigate the role that natural variation in von Willebrand factor levels has in determining cardiovascular disease risk, focusing specifically on clinical outcomes in patients with acute coronary syndromes.

The postholder will support the research laboratory activities of researchers and students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, ensuring that the laboratories are prepared for experimentation and are compliant with relevant Health and Safety policy and legislation. You will also undertake experiments to contribute to data acquisition and help train and supervise others in core laboratory techniques in molecular and cellular biology. The role will also include responsibility for maintaining laboratory equipment and stocks as well as keeping all Health & Safety documentation up to date.
