A key role in the Group BPM team, with specific focus on managing the Group’s planning and forecasting processes.
You will collaborate with finance colleagues in the business to produce Group level forecasting and planning to the highest standard, giving insightful analysis to the Board and CLT.
Whilst the role will have specific accountabilities you will also be expected to provide support to the wider team as demand requires. This means the role gives a broad exposure to all of the Group BPM activity and a good understanding of the performance of whole Group

The Role
Plan & Monitor the Business
- Own the design and communication of group forecasting and planning guidance to BUs, including providing forward price curves
- Translate financial forecasts and plans (P&L, Cash, KPIs) into clear reporting content for CLT and the Board including risks and opportunities
- Run the annual GAP process including taking ownership of the overall loading of the plan into BPC
- Run GFF forecasts and LV forecasts as required
- Liaise with colleagues in treasury, tax and pensions to understand impact on plan and forecasts.
- Own the Corporate plan including any central planning overlays
- Provide the Reward team with forecast updates for all of the Group’s incentive schemes
Provide Decision Support
- Ensure Head of Group BPM, Group Financial Controller and CFO are appropriately supported for CLT and Board discussions on financial forecasts
- Be the expert on the Group financial forecasts to support key decision making, such as M&A activity, trading statements, Remco decisions, interims and prelims
General
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the business and Group
- Become the lead Group BPM contact with your allocated BUs to become the go to person for understanding of that BU’s performance and to support BU with Group understanding
- Understand business strategy and its translation into financial impacts, and support its effective communication across Finance
- Develop deep understanding of key drivers of revenue and costs, cashflow, and risks and opportunities and be conversant with the translation of commercial issues into financial impacts
- Support the wider finance team and business by providing robust, insight and analysis to drive improvements in financial performance
- Support Transformation activities through design and delivery of changes to forecasting/reporting methodologies, to drive greater understanding, efficiency and standardisation
- Co-ordinate the production of standard finance deliverables to the agreed format, timeline and quality. These will be supported by clear and focused messaging that supports the business area objectives
The Person
- Accounting qualification or experience
- Previous commercial finance experience in a large organisation
- Experience in decision support
- Communication of analysis and insight across the business
- Track record of process improvement
- Good understanding of SAP BPC
- Ability to pro-actively develop positive and highly effective working relationships, influencing management on delivery and relevant strategy
- Capable of managing multiple tasks for very senior stakeholders in a high-pressure environment and engage resource across the business and finance to deliver work to tight deadlines
- Strategic thinking – able to step away from the detail and see the bigger picture
- Critical thinking and analytical skills to provide check and challenge to the business in their decision making in an effective and constructive manner
- A demonstrated ability in commercial analysis and evaluation, with strong commercial acumen to support delivery of business goals
- Strong ability to summarise complex matters and communicate effectively to influence a range of audiences
- Ability to identify, assess and analyse organisation wide operational risks and control
- Expertise in developing and maintaining models, and analysing data
- Develops understanding of the business
- Good awareness of P&L, Cashflow and Balance Sheet
