The Institute of Medical Sciences, based at the Medway campus represents a centre of excellence for postgraduate medical courses, medical education, a regional simulation and human factors project and scientific research. It is home to the Stem Cell Research and Advanced Bio Engineering Laboratory (SCRABEL) where the focus of its works is in innovative research that is determined by clinical need. The Institute delivers an MCh in Surgery with 7 pathways (Regenerative Orthopaedics and Reconstruction / Otorhinolaryngology / Urology / Ophthalmology / Obstetrics and Gynaecology / Aesthetic Facial Surgery / Minimally Invasive Facial Aesthetics). It also delivers an MSc in Physician Associate Studies and works extensively with primary care colleagues.
The Role
The main purpose of the role will be to assist in the provision of essential teaching and specialist space support; preparing teaching spaces, answering queries, tidying up following teaching sessions and preparing research space. The role will also be to enable others to carry out research experimentation, assist with research support, maintenance of the space and associated equipment.
The Person
You will be a graduate with previous experience in a similar role and with an excellent knowledge of the working of a laboratory. You will be a member of a small team and will be supporting the team as well as students’ practical work. You will be able to work on your own at times with a flexible approach.
