Fitter/Plumber (DLO)

Cardiff University is looking to recruit an experienced, reliable and highly motivated Fitter/Plumber as a member of the Estates & Facilities Mechanical team.
As a member of our team, you will be required to assist with the provision of an efficient business critical response service and routine maintenance for all plumbing and mechanical building services installed throughout the University including heating/ventilation and all equipment associated with mechanical building services.
Plumber/Fitters play a proactive role within an enthusiastic and innovative team, delivering key objectives to meet directorate and university wide requirements. Ensuring all statutory, planned and breakdown works are completed safely, cost effectively and to the agreed KPI’s and Service Level Agreement.

performance expectations in line with the Cardiff Professional behaviours.

This is a full-time (35 hours per week), open-ended position.
Salary: £26,444 - £29,605 per annum (Grade 4)

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
1. Hold a recognised apprenticeship in City and Guilds/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in plumbing or a mechanical discipline / HVAC
2. Demonstrate experience of working within a reactive maintenance environment with substantial, relevant post apprentice experience.
3. Good understanding of job specific General Health and Safety in the workplace including risk assessments and method statement.
4. Ability to work well as part of a team and independently to achieve overall team goals and the ability to prioritise tasks.
5. Ability to solve problems and make decisions using initiative to investigate and diagnose problems and to escalate as required at the appropriate level.
6. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate appropriately with customers and other departments.
7. A valid driving license is necessary as it is a condition of employment that all personnel are able to utilise the fleet of University vehicles to reach all University sites.
Desirable Criteria
8. Hold an up-to-date Gas Safe qualification (training will be funded for this as necessary).
9. Fluency in Welsh, written and oral.
