Sector Chief Pharmacy Technician

We are looking for an exceptional, creative and dynamic pharmacy leader who has a proven track record of service delivery and innovation to take up the post of Sector Chief Pharmacy Technician in NHSGGC North Sector. You will work across the three main sites at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Gartnavel General Hospital and the Vale of Leven Hospital and lead the planning, development and delivery of pharmacy technical services. You will play a crucial role in leading and developing a large team of pharmacy technicians, pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers and other support staff. You will act as the professional lead for this staff group, promoting high levels of professionalism and performance and advocating and championing current and potential roles and responsibilities.
You will also have an important role as a member of the wider pharmacy leadership team and help to develop the strategy and culture of the wider pharmacy service.
You will operationally manage approximately 160 pharmacy staff including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers and administrative staff. You will be responsible for all technical aspects of GRI/GGH/Vol pharmacy departments and provide professional leadership for all pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers working within the North Sector including recruitment, personnel issues, development, appraisal and change management.
As a senior manager you will contribute to the strategic and operational planning of pharmacy services and be responsible for all financial and staff resources, education and training for technical staff, workforce rotas and contingency planning for local service.
To be eligible for this post you must be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council with significant post qualification experience in hospital pharmacy, including first line or above management role. You will have an accredited theory into practice based management qualification (example: Diploma/MSc in Healthcare Management/HNC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent experience). You must also have a recognised and accredited accuracy checking qualification.
Excellent communication and people management sills, excellent organisational skills, the ability to work flexibly under time constraints/deadlines and the ability to lead and motivate others are essential for this post. Experience of performance management, project management and financial/budgetary management are also essential. You must be self-motivated and resilient and have excellent interpersonal and time management skills.
