Overview

At Centrica Business Solutions (CBS) we provide integrated energy solutions that deliver cost efficiency, resilience and accelerate our customers’ journeys to a low carbon future. We serve business and public sector organisations, increasingly focusing on delivering decarbonisation of power, heating and transport through our portfolio of solutions. This role sits in our UK and Ireland business where we build, operate, and maintain clean energy assets to help large public sector and industrial customers decarbonise. This includes sourcing green energy, providing project design and delivery expertise, financing options, and industry leading operational capabilities to deliver energy efficiency and save customers money, helping them balance the demands of planet and profit.

We are UK leaders in the design, installation and maintenance of a range of renewable technologies for large portfolio domestic and commercial properties. You will be responsible to create long-term, trusting relationships with both the domestic and commercial O&M customers for solar renewable energy (up to 5MW). The key aspect of the role is to oversee a portfolio of assigned customers and develop new business from existing clients.

The Role

In your new role as Solar Operations Manager, you will have some of the following accountabilities:

  • Lead point of contact for all customer account management matters and focus to build lasting client relationships and identify new business opportunities
  • Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximise profits
  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with key accounts, customer stakeholders and executive sponsors. Manage subcontractors.
  • Conduct finance tracking including cost optimisation and forecasting
  • Communicate the progress of monthly and quarterly initiatives to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage a portfolio of solar plants, ensuring that all O&M execution work is undertaken in accordance with the agreed contractual scope and driving strong healthy safety practice
  • Review O&M contracts and ensure that all contractual obligations are met
  • Collaborate with appropriate personnel for both preventive and reactive maintenances to be scheduled
  • Manage the strategic and operational aspects of the O&M department
  • Contribute to the successful completion of PAC, IAC and FAC
  • Collect and manage asset information for the O&M department and maintain the Master Asset Register
  • Manage fault tickets, ensuring contractual obligations and response times are fulfilled
  • Log and review all O&M site reports
  • Identify and manage all interruptions to power generation and/or general operation of projects
  • Produce quotes for chargeable work & create POs for parts and services
  • Support in the resolution of Legacy Solar Residential customers
  • Manage project handovers between EPC and O&M


The Person

We would like you to have some of the following skill and experience for this role:

  • Educated at degree level in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience in the solar industry.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple operational solar plant projects and knowledge of project planning
  • Great communicator and collaborator at all levels
  • Strong Health and Safety awareness & customer focus
  • Aptitude for identifying ways to improve established procedures to ensure maximization of resources
  • Financial and commercial acumen
  • Flexible mind-set and quickly adaptable to changing needs of projects
