A vacancy exists for a Extrusion Operative - Assembly within Lorient, Newton Abbot, reporting to the Production Supervisor.
The shift operates on a shift with the hours of 8.00 am to 4.00 pm.
The primary objectives of this position is:
- To assist with the timely production of a range of Lorient products, in accordance with required customer specifications and orders received.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- In accordance with training received, operate a variety of machines and tools used in the various stages of the production process, and according to job instructions.
- To work on a variety of Extrusion lines, carrying out visual, dimensional and physical quality checks on the products coming off.
- Assist in maintaining a buffer stock of popular sizes and colours etc. of certain popular product lines.
- To assist with the packing of finished products.
- To help ensure finished goods are stored in an appropriate manner prior to despatch.
- To dispose of waste and scrap material according to the company’s waste guidelines.
- Observe Health and Safety rules, which must be adhered to at all times, especially in the operation of machinery where safe working practices MUST BE OBSERVED and keep work area clean and tidy and free from potential hazards.
- Notify Section Leader / Supervisor of any faulty or non-functioning machinery and equipment, and at the same time exercise care and attention when operating expensive machinery.
- Be prepared to assist in other Production areas from time to time, if required to do so and according to training received, in order to help meet production deadlines.
- Ensure that customer orders are met on a timely basis, ensuring that all goods meet the required quality standards.
- Observe the Company Quality and Environmental standards, procedures and guidelines in all areas of production activity, together with monitoring quality and consistency of output on an on-going basis.

- Possess a good eye for detail and be able to spot defects and faults.
- Possess the ability to record numerical data.

- Be able to co-operate and work well in a team.
