Department: Adults & Health
Terms & Conditions: Permanent. Full time, 37 hours per week.
Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of people who live in Blackburn with Darwen?
We are looking to recruit a motivated and hard-working Social Worker to take up a permanent post in our service. The post is based in our Adult Safeguarding Team, focusing on statutory Safeguarding interventions. With ongoing developments in our department, the post will also involve work into our Adult Social Care teams, combining Safeguarding and wider Social Work assessments and interventions.
The post is open to both experienced and newly qualified social workers. You would join an established, supportive team who work to provide effective safeguarding interventions to our most vulnerable residents. You would be part of the wider Adult Social Care department, with development opportunities across multiple teams and services. All our teams work to foster excellence in social care. We work in partnership with local residents to achieve the best outcomes for our service users, using a strength-based approach to assessment and intervention.
As a Social Worker in Blackburn with Darwen, you will need excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to team working. We need you to be highly motivated and focused, with good attention to detail. Key responsibilities for the role include
- Completing statutory assessments and safeguarding investigations under the Care Act
- Working directly with service users, carers and care providers to promote the autonomy and safety of vulnerable adults
- Holding responsibility for a caseload of service users open to the Safeguarding Team
- Collaborating with a wide range of professionals to address safeguarding concerns; this includes working with professionals across the department, including Social Workers, Managers and our Legal Department, as well as colleagues from both the wider council and local partner organisations.
We take staff development seriously, and want to see all our teams thrive. With all our Social Work roles, we offer:
- a competitive salary
- regular supervision and appraisal
- a strong and supportive multi-disciplinary team environment
- team based learning opportunities
- personal progression advice and support for professional development and future opportunities
- access to a range of health and wellbeing support.
These are fulfilling roles so if you are up for the challenge, share our values and want to enhance people’s lives, then we would really welcome you to apply.
We are a Disability Confident employer. Please let us know if communication via an alternative means is required.
